Sculptural Design Etretat Bench / Console by Eduard Locota

About the Item

The Story Walking along side to the coastline of Etretat, at the France’s Northern Coast. The verticality and powerful lines between rock and vegetation, between the shades of white cliff, with thick blankets of grass constructed by numerous shades of green, gave influence for creating La Falaise. It’s significance is very simple: as more as “we get absorbed” into the digital, there is a need for a powerful transition towards the natural and simple. La Failaise, offers a storm of inspiration. Let yourself be carried in a walk to the beautiful French coastline, a wild and powerful beauty. The Style Representing a radical experimentation of materials and forms, and most complex exploration of the shades of Fern Green color. The work was largely fueled by a”primitive” form, the rock. A natural inspiration formed a unique contrast to the humanly fabricated roman column, resulting in a distinctive blend of modernity and timelessness. The column style provide space to a totally different interpretation: man’s longing and yearning for the spiritual and divine, the manipulation of reality embarking to a dream place. In a stray away from the usual system of colors and choose a more monochromatic scale of colors, shows the audience how unique this piece of art is and how it differs from all other works not only in subject or theme but also in color. Dimensions Bench: L 145 CM / W 50 CM / H 56CM Console: 133 x 42 cm W 75 cm H *Note: because each piece is unique & made by hand, final dimensions may vary slightly. Few words from the artist: “I left on the surface of the object the imprints of my own fingers, of my hands, as well as the strikes and marks left by the actual tools used to shape the work. Later on, i took molds of my hands, fingers and of the tools that were actually used in the making of this unique piece, and duplicated them in cold cast bronze to complete the artistic statement.” For this set of works, the synthetic materials were chosen rationally in order to explain both the physical and conceptual materiality of the theme. Though, exactly the opposite for our case, the common perception of any synthetic material is usually disposable, mass-produces and low-grad. This gives birth to a discussion about the ethical value of synthetic materials and man’s ability to perceive it culturally. The story of the transformation of matter into an object, about the transformation of the object into a good, about the monetization of the good. Plastic concept: From the oldest of times, our species has experienced a strong symbiosis with matter. Humans have learned to model matter, turned it into tools, and then used it to create objects. The man of the 21st century has shaped the Anthropocene era to his liking; and plasticized it to his own mirror. The project called materiality, is centered around the last geological era, popularly known as the plastic age...

  • Wave Lounge by Eduard Locota. Turquoise-Blue Acrylic Glass Sculptural Design
    By Eduard Locota
    Located in Timisoara, RO
Once upon a time, in the middle of the Ocean, on a very still day, while the sun was shining, a wave has appeared. Why did the wave appear exactly at that place and time? Nobody knows. What we know for centuries, is that the Ocean is never still, and always has waves at the horizon. We know that a wave is only energy. Energy transmitted through particles of water, causing it to swirl into an endless circular motion. And if not obstructed, waves have the potential to travel across an entire ocean basin. The story of the Wave Lounge was born once upon a time, while gazing at the never-ending blue horizon. Inspired by the vast energy of the wind and sea strongly colliding together, the idea of this monolithic functional sculpture was thus born. The concept As a piece of the Ocean, a strong presence of mass was needed in the style of Wave Lounge. The twist of a wave near braking point, encapsulated in time, that will completely charm the viewer’s eyes. With a total neglect for traditional design, this fully functional design piece will undoubtedly generate emotions. Be prepared to take a large slice of wave right into your home. Build process Build fully by hand, with acrylic glass as a primary material. For each piece, literally over 200 Kg of material was used for this monolithic functional artwork. it is necessary to pour over 60 colored layers of liquid acrylic...

  • Sculptural Design Stool by Eduard Locota
    By Eduard Locota
    Located in Timisoara, RO
The sculptural group “Abstract Isometry” has been gravitating around the theme of fragmentation, slicing of the earth and plasticity. In the contemporary context, channeled almost exclusively on our natural resources, once abundant natural resources such as fossil fuel, water and even clean oxygen, become rare commodities. In the current context focused on excessive and unsustainable consumerism, the 21st century welcomes us with a Darwinian transformation for both men and nature. Evolution which leads to the development of a synthetic man living in a synthetic nature. Heavy topics as regeneration and sustainable environment are thrown into the arms of the future generations, that have not been born yet. Thus, the artist’s creations highlight the synthesis through alternative materials used, such as: synthetic marble (resin and marble dust), synthetic resin (Plexiglass), synthetic cement (Jesmonite), charcoal, wood, and so on. His works have a powerful conceptual plasticity but also physical plasticity, a concept that can be interpreted as modern works of the 21st century. Unique Because the artwork is entirely handcrafted and made to order; build process takes approximately 3-4 weeks for each artwork. Every artwork is hand-sculpted, molded and finished by hand by the artist himself. Because of this special build process, there will be small differences between every edition, thus unique, unique in the world. In addition to the artists signature on the piece of art, you will receive a “Certificate of Authenticity” signed and dated by Eduard Locota himself. Sculptural design piece, that will last for hundreds if not thousands of years. Memorable We here present you a contrasting composition with a memorable design. This extremely clean and Minimalist artwork produce the strong recognizable style of Eduard Locota that will lights up the space it will be placed in, as well as lift the eyebrows of the audience.
