    This exquisite fossil diptych features one Diplomystus dentatus and four Cockerellites liops (formerly known as Priscacara). These fish are all Eocene era fossils dating back about 50 million years. The ancient fish are forever preserved in a sculptural matrix of fossil-bearing limestone. Each panel in the diptych measures approximately 1 foot x 2.7 feet. The overall width of the diptych will vary depending on exactly how the panels are arranged. Each panel is fully backed with wood and has a built-in French cleat, which allows for an easy installation.     Four Eocene Era fossil fish from the Green River Formation are featured in this sculptural stone mural: a Cockerellites liops (formerly known as Priscacara) accented by three smaller Knightia eocaena. These fossil fish are about 50 million years old and are forever preserved in a textured matrix of natural, fossil-bearing limestone. This particular mural features a rare layer from our quarry known as Steel Blue Lake; the rich blue-gray color is a dramatic backdrop for the deep bronze color of the fossils. The mural measures approximately 1.33 feet x 2 feet. It is fully backed with wood and it includes a handmade custom Wenge wood frame which compliments the fossil color beautifully.
