Calcite on Stibnite, Hechi mining area, Guangxi Region, China
Measures: 15.2 cm tall x 8 cm wide.

This calcite is both transparent and translucent with bright glass like luster and strong vivid color. The calcite crystal has excellent definition showing extremely sharp geometric twinning planes at the center. The combination of fine colorful calcite with crystallized stibnite is very rare and only found in a few places on earth. These lemon yellow calcites from China were discovered about 18 years ago and then never seen again. The discovery consisted of only about 30 pieces, of which less than 10 were of fine collector quality. This is a true classic specimen from a now extinct locality.
