Museum Quality Manganite From Germany // 260 Grams

About the Item

This incredibly bright and lustrous manganite from Ilfeld, Harz Mountains, Germany features two sizable crisscrossing prismatic, striated crystals – the larger of which measures 1-1/2"W x 3/4"D – rising above a bed of smaller, dazzlingly shiny manganite crystals. This specimen is 100% undamaged and aesthetically striking from every angle, and came out of a pocket in Germany in the mid-1880s. It is a true display piece. Prior to WWII this specimen was on display in the Budapest Museum. It is both ex. Richard Kostner collection and ex. Wally Mann collection. This is a world-class example of the manganite species and with its pedigree the knowledgable collector will be simply unable to pass it up.
