Pair of Polished Cut Ammonites with Crystalline Chambers

About the Item

A pair of cut and polished ammonites with crystalline chambers originating from Madagascar. Once living creatures, these ammonites have developed their flowing colours and patterns displayed in their chambers over millions of years of compression, transforming into striking gemstones. More on Ammonite/s Ammonites from Madagascar tend to be Triassic to Cretaceous in age, with several different species being available sporadically. Ammonite/s, which have variable features including crystalline, sediment or calcified segments. These fossils have been well preserved for millions on years. Higher graded material will have clearly distinctive segments, crystalline areas, and often a mix of calcite infills or sedimentary infills. Additional information Comes with two exclusive medium custom-made painted plaster display plinth – ø17cm x height 6.5cm. Overall dimensions are for specimen and base.
