Sky Blue Barite Mineral Specimen—Jebel Ouichane, Morocco

About the Item

Barite is made up of barium sulfate (BaSO4) and is the primary ore of barium. Although found in multiple places on Earth, its colors and forms vary significantly from deposit to deposit. This lovely, sky-blue example comes from a one-time-find from Morocco. Although blue barite has been found in other countries, the famed Moroccan examples were from a single deposit recovered in 2015 that are easily identified by their larger sizes, breathtaking sky-blue coloring, and attractive, ultra-thin bladed structure. Sharp and translucent, the crystals have an ethereal presence that is at once delicate yet striking. The favorites from the pocket are those that formed in shapely rosettes that resemble flowers made of ice. This beautiful specimen embodies all of those beloved traits, exhibiting a vivid blue tone, and vitreous bladed forms. Between its vivid color, quality, and aesthetics, it would be a lovely representative example for the well-known, and well-loved find. This specimen comes with a custom stand. Item reference: #07558.

Despite being among the newer finds in the mineral collecting world, YGX fluorites have distinguished themselves with their enchanting water-color blues, lilacs, and purples and propensity for good form. This is a sculptural example made up of several cubic fluorite crystals...
