Japanese Antique Sake Bottle 'Fukumusume' 1960s Showa era
Located in Paris, FR
This is a Sake bottle made in Japan around 1960s. On this bottle, it is written 'Fukumusume' and it's the name of one of the Japanese Sake. This bottle was used by a company which was located in Hyogo prefecture, Kobe city. It is thought to have been distributed from the late Edo period to the early Showa period and was used by the general public for retail use by liquor stores. Sake shops rented out Tokkuri (sake cups) and sold them to customers by filling them with the amount of sake they wanted. On the sake bottle, the name of the liquor store, the brand name, and, in the Showa period, the phone number of the store were also written. Customers would take the sake bottle with them when they went shopping, and it was a great way to advertise the store along the way. (By Sake Antiques)
