About the Item

Pair of Roman Grand Tour Bronze and Ormolu Serpent Motif Vases/ Ewers/Urns  Italy, circa 1880s A beautiful pair of Roman Grand Tour Bronze and Ormolu Serpent Motif Vases, Ewers, and Urns, originating from Italy in the 1880s. Each piece stands at 10.5 inches in height on the marble pedestals, 6.5 inches high alone, 4.5 inches in width, and 3 inches in depth. Adorned with down-swept handles, these vases have bulbous bodies featuring finely cast and engraved applied ormolu serpents encircling the frieze, meeting beneath the mouth of the ewers. They rest gracefully atop verdigris green marble pedestal bases measuring 2.5 inches square and 4 inches high. While unsigned, the exquisite craftsmanship speaks volumes, representing the opulence and artistry of the Grand Tour era. These vases are not only timeless decorative pieces but also historical artifacts embodying the cultural and aesthetic sensibilities of their time. Ready to enhance any collection or interior, they stand as enduring testaments to the elegance of 19th-century craftsmanship.
