17th Century (or older) Turkish Terracotta Olive Jar w/Ribbed Texture, 5 ft Tall

About the Item

This large-sized Turkish olive jar dates back to at least the 17th century, though it is quite likely older. This antique Turkish terracotta vessel, once used to hold olives, features a rounded lip at it's top, with a bulbous centre which tapers to the bottom. The jar is nicely decorated with ribbed trim details, encircling the body. There is a wonderful old patina and paint remnants throughout this piece, showcasing it's rich history. This impressive piece stands at 5 feet tall and over 3 feet in diameter. Though the jar can stand on it's own, it is not very stabile. Therefore, we recommend it's use to be supported in some fashion, whether standing straight or laying on it's side. This 17th century Turkish olive jar will make an awe-inspiring, decorative statement piece.
