Japanese Antique Pottery Jar / Beautiful and Rare Natural Glaze and Shape Jar

About the Item

We have a unique Japanese aesthetic sense. And only we can introduce unique items through our purchasing channels in Japan and the experience we have gained so far, in such a way that no one else can imitate. It is a very old jar in Japan. This is a pottery called Tokoname ware. Tokoname is a kiln located in Aichi prefecture, Japan. (The red circle on the map is the Tokoname kiln) It is said to have originated around the 12th century. Also, in Japan, there are 6 kilns with a long history that are still going on. It is one of them. This is a jar that was burned in the 15th and early 16th centuries. It is the Muromachi period, which is older than the Edo period. Also, this is a natural glaze, not a glaze. I put straw in the kiln and the ash melted. very beautiful. Also, because many jars are burned, the next jar may fall over. This is a state where the jar has collapsed and a part of it is stuck together. That contingency is also a natural art. However, this has been broken once. After that, the debris is glued and restored. There are few stores that sell such things in 1st dibs. We sell with confidence. Since the cracks have been restored, the price is set reasonably. Why don't you show off to your friends around you? Weight: 5.25 kg "Note" Be sure to lift it with both hands when holding it. If you put water in it, it will leak, so if you want to decorate the flowers, put water in another container and put it in the jar.

  • Rare Japanese Antique Pottery Vase / Beautiful Natural Glazed Jar/1573-1603
    Located in Sammu-shi, Chiba
It is "Shigaraki ware". Shigaraki is a historical kiln located in Shiga Prefecture, Japan. It is said to have originated in the 8th century. In Japan, there are 6 historical kilns that are still in operation. One of them. This is a vase made around 1573-1603. We often see jars like this in Shigaraki ware, but vases with a lot of natural glaze like this are very rare. Not all jars are in this state, and this phenomenon occurs due to the overlap of various factors such as the place where the pottery is placed in the pot, the force and temperature of the flame, the direction of the wind, etc. . In particular, this one has a lot of burnt ash sticking to it on one side, giving it a lava-like surface, and the other side has melted ash, and the glassy natural glaze draws beautiful lines and hangs down. This is truly an art of nature...
