Large 19th C. Imari Temple Jar. center piece Cover vase on a Stand Antiques LA

About the Item

A large and impressive pair of 19th century Japanese Imari Baluster lidded vase with cover, having Foo dogs on the lid, intricately hand painted floral panels pattern and surrounds of wisteria and chrysanthemums. Antique dealer Los Angeles Beverly hills. The central image on the body of the vase is of flowers overflowing a Carriage with charactering a detailed cartouches of flying star studded dragons. Imari pieces are known for their colorful and densely decorated designs of vibrant rusty orange-red, blue and gold on white ground. Export of these wares halted in the late 18th century, but experienced resurgence in the late 19th century in European decor. Center piece on a console or table or mounted on a pedestal, this beautiful piece will add the perfect touch of color that makes the room smile.
