Handmade ceramic stoneware cup. Marbled raw colored clay exterior with satin black glaze interior. Available in other options. Handmade by Malka Dina in Brooklyn, NY. Due to the handmade nature of this item, each piece will be slightly unique and some variation is to be expected. This piece can also be used as a small planter. Please send a message if you would like a small hole in the bottom for drainage. The terra cup (terra meaning "Earth" in Latin) was named for the abstract landscape-like imagery that comes from the marbling of different colored clay bodies. Each color is carefully mixed in the studio for a completely custom color palate.

Behind MALKA DINA is artist/designer Elana Noy. A New York City native, Elana is based in Brooklyn, NY where she handcrafts her designs in her studio. From metal smithing to handmade pottery to handwoven textiles, Elana almost solely utilizes techniques that were invented hundreds, if not thousands, of years ago. As she approaches these mediums and means of production, she looks for unexplored territory in technical approach and formal innovation. Shapes are often inspired by nature, the body and ancient architecture, whereas textiles and fiber techniques are typically used to inform surface decoration. Her main objective is to expand the usual application of any given medium to create objects unlike anything that has been seen before.
