The ceramic is a glazed sculpture of a woman in shades of grey, blue and green.
It is signed below : "Le Mûrier".
It is in a very good condition.
Jean Derval's brother-in-law, Gustave Reynaud settled in Vallauris in 1955 when the french village had been booming by the arrival of the painter-potter Pablo Picasso in 1948. He founded with his wife the workshop "Le Murier".
Engraved or fused under glaze, the stylised decorations deal with floral or animal themes, most often birds, and abstract motifs for utilitarian and decorative ceramics. Inspired by Jean Derval's models, knightly jugs and virgins with a child take shape.
