Pair of Antique Swedish Decorative "J. & C.G. Bolinder" Cast Iron Urns
About the Item
Antique cast iron urns from Sweden made during the late 19th century, around 1870. The garden urns are the classic medicine shape with handles at the sides. Marked “J. & C.G. Bolinder Stockholm” and N:16 on the feet. The urns are in untouched original condition and have an authentic patina after 150 years of use. The paint is genuinely distressed and the rust had developed naturally.
J. & C.G. Bolinder was founded in 1844 by brothers Jean Bolinder and Carl Gerhard Bolinder in Stockholm, Sweden. They made and produced all kinds of cast iron goods, from urns and pots to stoves and steam engines. The company went on to become one of Sweden's foremost export companies of the time and today they have their own dedicated museum.
