Pair Of French 19th Century Belle Époque Period Marble And Ormolu Lidded Urns
About the Item
An exceptional and very high quality pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. Belle Époque period white Carrara marble and ormolu lidded urns. Each urn is raised by a square base with concave corners and a fine bottom ormolu fillet. The socle shaped pedestal support displays superb richly chased acanthus leaves and a striking tied wrap around berried laurel band. The elegantly shaped body displays a superb pierced fitted wrap around ormolu band with most decorative scrolled Rinceaux designs, foliate accents, and striking masks of beautiful maidens at each side amidst fine acanthus leaves and lovely scrolled pierced handles. The elegantly curved neck leads up to beautiful draped flowing ormolu garlands with blooming flowers tied with charming ribbons all below the pierced rim and removable lid with a wonderful berried finial.
