About the Item

Balkani is a product in which transparencies, opaque and shiny colours blend. A technique developed in 1951 that required a squashing of the glass, which adapts to the hand and has distinctive ergonomics, makes it even more original. For this reason, every Balkani is a unique piece. Balkani vase design was created in 2021 by Assia Karaguizova. NasonMoretti, born in 1923, creates its products in a limited number, adressind those who are not easily pleased, those who love and search for value and elegance in everyday gestures and objects. Each piece contains the ancient alchemy and the millenial knowledge of Murano master glass-workers, joined with pursuit of a redefined modernity, which make it a unique and collectable object. A NasonMoretti's creation is a fragment of culture that is deeply rooted in the Venetian history, whose ancient techniques are followed to guarantee the purchase of a product of excellence. NasonMoretti won the prestigious "Compasso d'Oro" award in 1955. Nason and Moretti glasses has been chosen to be exhibited at Museum of Modern Art in New York and Galleries Difference in Paris. This year the Museo del Vetro of Murano dedicates an exhibition to NasonMoretti to celebrate the centenary of its foundation. Assia Karaguiozova, born in Sofia in 1978, has always had an artist's soul, sensing her deep need, since childhood, to express herself through drawing. She receives a mixed education, initially of Russian origin and later of Italian mold, at the Complex of Italian Language and Culture in Sofia. She then completed her studies in Milan, attending the Faculty of Economics and Commerce. She takes her first steps in the world of fashion, advertising and publishing. Furthermore, photography represents an important part of the process that leads her to be a complete and structured artist. Her innate curiosity leads her to discover herself as a designer in 2001, experimenting with the transformation of imaginary ideas into tangible objects, graphic representations and installations, working with different materials in different sectors. The subjects that Karaguiozova designs are never born merely as an end in themselves and with a single functionality, but rise to tools of storytelling and connection, with more possibilities of existence. They can be defined as "emotional pieces", through which the deepest sensations and emotions of the artist materialize, revealing a sort of underlying poetic score. The poetry that underlies all of Assia Karaguiozova's creations makes each piece unique in itself, but at the same time repeatable, as a design object.e in Paris.
