Pressed glass 'Face' vase n. 3483 designed by Adolf Matura in 1972.
Manufactured by Sklo Union, Czechoslovakia 1970s
Adolf Matura is of great importance in the history of Czechoslovakian pressed glass. Matura was primarily a glass artist. At the beginning of his career he concentrated on etched glass in Železny Brod. Later he concentrated on table and complementary glass designs. In the mid-1960s, he began to devote himself to printed glass. Matura loved figurative work. Among his designs is one of the best vases, the two-sided vase, which is highly prized by collectors of pressed glass.
