About

Cool blue Art Deco vase with inverted rim by A. D. Copier/ Signed CL produced at Royal Leerdam Glassworks, circa 1940. Andries Dirk Copier is one of the most revered glass designers of his time, a leader in the Art Deco 'Amsterdam School' style. Leerdam Glass is known for clean, simple, organic forms with high production values. These round edges, perfect proportions, and subtle craftsmanship were the hallmarks of ‘kunstnijverheid’ (Industrial art) in the 30's — similar styles were adopted by WJ Rozendaal for Kristalunie Maastricht. Many of these works can be found on display at the Sonneveld House or in the collection of Dutch National Glass museum today.
