Black and White Speckled Art Deco Vase with Stepped-Down Fins by Guillard

About the Item

Of all the great masters of French Art Deco pottery in the 1920s and 1930s, Marcel Guillard was the most creative and brilliant in his mastery of solid geometry: he made objects which combined the cylinder, sphere, slab and cube in creative and unexpected ways. In this case, his tapered vase is finished in an elegant, black-and-white speckled glaze, the upper third of the vase featuring stepped-down fins. The entire composition is very fine and entirely original. The bottom is well marked.
