Bright Field Neutral Grey, glass vase with murrini decoration by Sabine Lintzen
About the Item
‘Bright Field Neutral Grey’ is a unique sculptural glass vase by the German artist, Sabine Lintzen.
The initial inner form is free-blown and adorned with various individually shaped murrini. The top edge had been cut and polished to create a beautiful crisp finish, in direct contrast to the softer forms in the adornment.
Originally an artist working with ceramics and creating sculpture, Sabine Lintzen has transformed herself into a master of glass. Since 1991 Lintzen has worked predominantly with glass, developing historical making techniques, drawn from Italy, the Arabian world and Dutch culture. These techniques enabled her to translate old knowledge into new applications.
Every piece is handcrafted in the local studios of Limburg and Amsterdam. With a gifted team of glassblowers, Lintzen forms the fluid material into solid shapes and structured patterns. With every step she takes, a new path arises that catches her interest.
For Lintzen her works in relation to their surroundings live together as a symbiosis. With luminosity, an exploration of light and colour come into existence.
In her own words:
‘It is always a captured expression of a positive result of my thoughts. Therefore my work never stops and shows a continuous movement.’

- Alpine, A White, Black, Grey, Yellow & Green Glass Vase by Bethany WoodBy Bethany WoodLocated in London, GB'Alpine' is a unique glass vase from the Molten Landscapes Collection by the British artist Bethany Wood. An equal passion for painting physically inspires how she controls and manipulates her glass. Recreating the fleeting nature of brush strokes, Wood’s molten colors traverse across the surface of her glass canvases blending in a myriad of hues. Unlike their flat painterly counterparts, these combine and merge, forming spontaneous watery and lava like abstract relief flourishes. Taking inspiration from a wide range of sources, Wood’s influences are taken directly from the world around us, elements of the inner-city sit alongside expansive landscapes. Reoccurring themes are Graffiti & Urban Culture, exploration & travel. In the artist's own words; "As a multidisciplinary artist, I have begun to merge my two artistic passions, painting and Glassmaking. I like to express myself with the fluidity of the material. The Directional arrangement of a color palette can form the depth of an abstract Landscape. I use my own paintings as a reference whilst making in the hot shop. Each individual artwork from my series has been inspired by a specific place. Serendipity of abstraction has always been an inspiration for me; the coincidental elements which catch the eye of the viewer. The palette, composition and depth I have attained are taken from nature, with a bold but elegant swipe of my own personal, Expressionist style" Rising glass star, Wood graduated from De Montfort...Category

- Contemporary Gradienti Vase Medium, Neutral Grey-Lime by Laura SattinLocated in 1204, CHThe collection called ‘Gradienti’ is inspired by the infinite colour nuances of the sky. The technique used to make these vases is called ‘sfumato’, where the goal is to achieve imperceptible transitions between hues of soft colours. Because of the unpredictable behaviour of the colours during melting and during the hot working pro- cess, every vase is different: sometimes the transition from one colour to another is perfectly smooth, other times you can read a clear transition, a kind of horizon. This unpredictable component is what makes each vase unique. To make a piece, two colours of molten glass are combined at the beginning of the glass-making process. They are then dipped in an extra thin layer of transparent glass and mouth-blown into a wooden mould. Finally, the opening of the vase is shaped freehand. After cooling overnight in the kiln, the vases are sandblasted and waxed giving the pieces a satin, smooth and soft surface. Gradient mouth-blown glass, fading from steel blue to warm grey, sandblasted and waxed. This piece has been designed by Laura Sattin...Category
