Cloisonne Floor Vase
About the Item
This magnificent vintage Japanese cloisonné floor vase dates from the late 19th century. It is hand enameled & artistically rendered with multiple wild geese in flight. The geese are seen rising from the Japanese pampas grass against a deep blue background. The vase is exceptionally decorated with an intricate border motif at the neck & base. A sculptured patinated bronze platform accented with elephant heads supports this oversize vase. There are no areas of significant bruising or enamel loss. Inspection of the underside of the base reveals that this cloisonné’ may have, at one time, been a lamp base, as there is a drilled hole. Regardless, it is beautiful & will make a strong room accent.
