Early and Largest Lyngby Porcelain Vase with Gold Decoration, 1936-1940, Denmark

About the Item

A rare Lyngby Porcelain vase with fluted body and gold detailing. From the early production 1936-1940. The tallest size. 1st. assortment. Excellent condition, with only some slight wear of the gold decor. Stamped 'Lyngby Porcelain'. This white cylindrical vase from the 1936, with its distinctive grooves, is a symbol of modern functionalism in the history of Danish porcelain. Ornamentation and decoration were the norm until the 1920s. There was more of a focus on how the porcelain was decorated than on its shape. The Lyngby vase challenged convention, strongly influenced by the functionalist Bauhaus movement in Germany, where the spotlight was on form and functionality, not just embellishment. Danish Porcelain Manufactory Lyngby Porcelæn closed in 1969 and remained frozen in time until 2012. The Lyngby vase was taken back into production in 2013 and has since become a worldwide design standard again. The here shown vase is from the very first production series. It carries a signature that dates back to the first production series from 1936-1940 and is the most tallest size (38 cm) ever made. A true collectable piece in excellent condition.
