Edward Hald for Orrefors 1948 Fish Graal Flower Vase

About the Item

A Swedish "graal" glass flower vase with green aquarium decoration by glassworker Edward Hald. Signed and marked on bottom 1379 B, which dates it in 1948. Edward Hald (1883 - 1980) was a Swedish sculptor and painter. The son of a Norwegian father and Swedish mother, he studied Art in Stockholm, Copenhagen, Vienna and Paris. It was in Paris where he studied at Henri Matisse's school. His association with Orrefors began in 1917 and extended until 1978. The Graal series began in 1936 and features different designs; the aquariums are some of the most popular.
