Elegant porcelain weed pot in rare copper red peachbloom glaze, early 20th century. A well potted piece with glaze ranging from deep brownish red to light grey-green with dark dramatic streaks. Mysterious incised mark on the bottom with a cryptic message; I AM (2) # 10 HIGH.....
With an interesting provenance, sold through Reese Palley Gallery, (paper label with price).
Reese Palley, "Merchant to the rich" (1922-2015) was a flamboyant entrepreneur, gallerist, inventor, art dealer, businessman, author, adventurer, blogger, record-setting world circumnavigator, polymath, environmentalist, art impresario, & airline creator. The vase measures 7 1/4"-inches high x 6 1/4" inches in diameter.
