Group of three brass vases Probably, Tanjore, South India 19th century The bodies of flattened, spherical form, rising to the narrowed neck and a wide mouth with a reinforced rimwith various moulded and incised decoration from left: The largest, sits on a flattened base, engraved with a stylized mythical creatures height: 6 1/2 in.,(16.5cm.), diameter: 7 1/4 in.,(18.5cm.) The second, sits on a slightly spreading foot, richly engraved with lions and elephants in symmetrical arrangement facing each other height: 4 3/4 in.,(12cm.), diameter: 6in.,(15.2cm.) The third, sits on a rounded base, with a interesting “cat-scratch”decoration on a lower half height: 5 in.,(12.7cm.), diameter: 5 3/4 in.,(14.5cm.)
