About the Item
The title of this large porcelain vase by Alka Kunst of Germany is "Idyll" and the two hand coloured scenes either side depict idyllic scenarios. One scene shows a man sitting under a tree and fishing, and the other features a man painting en plein air accompanied by a young girl. Both scenes are hand coloured over a rather spare, sketchy outline. Together with the gilding to the rim and the foot, the scenes sit quite nicely on the creamy white porcelain body. The vase stands 325 mm (12.75 inches) high and has a diameter at the shoulder of 180 mm (7 1/8th inches). It is in very good condition and dates from the period 1955-60.
