Japanese Ginbari Perfume Vase in Cloisonné Enamel, 1920s

About the Item

A stunning example of a Japanese foiled cloisonne miniature brass perfume bottle or incense vase hand-painted with decorative flowers. The shimmer from this piece is derived from a technique called as ginbari. A technique whereby textured foil covers the body of the vase and then is covered with translucent enamel which creates mother of pearl - like glowing effects. Please notice that this vase does not have a base/bottom since it was made to be stuffed with perfumed cotton and worn in a bag, rope or jacket. This petite object was made in Japan during the early 20th century. Measurements: H: 5 cm, Diameter: 3 cm. Free World wide express shipping.
