Japanese Porcelain Bottle Vase Hand Painted Imari, Meiji Period Circa 1875

$921.26

About

This is a very decorative Japanese bottle vase which we date to the early Meiji period of the 19th century, circa 1875. This vase has a distinctive bottle shape with a tall stem neck having a shaped basal knop (swelling). The bulbous lower section of the vase body is also vertically fluted. The vase has been carefully hand painted in various shades of cobalt blue, gilt and burnt orange, with two alternating floral designs, two within circles and two within heart shaped circles. Further flowers are painted outside of the main circles, on the stem and as a border around the knopped section at the base of the stem. There are no marks to the base. Overall a very decorative tall vase in bold bright colours.
