About the Item

Daniel Reynolds' cinnamon, chalk and obsidian geometric pot is part of a handmade ceramics range inspired by the methods of the ancients Daniel’s large hand built pots operate as striking focal points, helping to define larger spaces, highlight architectural details, and complement natural lighting in reception halls and other open environments. Each pot is constructed via the coiling method, a time-honoured pottery-making technique. Clay is rolled into long strands, then laid one coil on top of the other. The choice of white stoneware clay, saffron slip, and a black shiny glaze interior is bold and simple, reminiscent of Daniel's Venezuelan heritage. About Daniel Reynolds Daniel Reynolds is a sculptor and ceramicist, focused on the creation of abstract mobiles, lighting, and large ceramic vessels. Working primarily with his hands, Daniel uses a combination of porcelain, stoneware, and glass shapes of various hues. On occasion, he adds other objects, such as gourd sections, to create an organic contrast to the main materials. The resulting aesthetic reflects the salient movements of the 20th century, paying homage to British artists such as Victor Pasmore, Patrick Heron and William Scott, to name a few. In contrast, Daniel's ceramic technique draws a direct line to the methods of the ancients, resulting in ample forms, enhanced through the use of simple colors and patterning. Daniel graduated with a BA Hons in Painting and Sculpture from Brighton Polytechnic, preceeded by a BA Hons in 3D Design from Middlesex. Daniel's work has recently been exhibited at the Museum of Arts and Design, New York and is included in the Patricia Phelps Cisneros Collection, New York.
