About the Item
Large Venini Italian Art Glass "Fazzoletto" Handkerchief Vase by Fulvio Bianconi for Murano. circa 1950s. Made in Italy Venini. Dark burgundy and white cased glass Fazzoletto vase. White glass is lattimo glass, a milky glass invented by Murano in 15th Century to imitate porcelain. The glass is then layered with the white. The form was originally designed by Fulvio Bianconi around 1950. The vase has a distinctive shape that resembles the folds and points of a handerchief, fazzoletto in Italian. Sticker tags "Murano", "Made in Italy Venini". Signed on bottom "Venini Italio, 86". Great condition, light wear on bottom consistent with usage and age. Flea bit on edge as photo'd. Also, when light shines through it, you can see the beautiful burgundy color. Dimensions: 12.5" H x 14" W, 12.5" Deep.
