Large wheel thrown vase by Jason Fox.
This hand crafted vase was thrown on the wheel in two parts, scored/slipped, joined and then shaped. After letting the clay set up and become leather hard, it was then trimmed and finally the foot was finished and stamped. Once dry it was bisque fired in an electric kiln.
For this vase the glaze was then poured over the piece in several layers and then hand applied to encourage the organic movement you see on the finished surface. Once the glazed vase again had a chance to dry out completely it was reduction fired to over 2000 degrees in a gas kiln. After the glaze firing the foot was then sanded to ensure a smooth finished surface.
It's truly a unique piece handmade by Jason Fox in Los Angeles that can be used functionally as a vase or as an accent piece for any modern decor.

Jason Fox Ceramics
A Southern Californian for over half his life, Contemporary Ceramic Artist Jason Fox draws upon his classical education in Architecture and Art History as well as his love of surfing and the ocean. He works organically letting the imperfections and unique delicate qualities of the clay and materials stand front and center. "Each handmade vessel has a very individual personality. I want to let these personalities shine and enrich your lives as you encounter them though out your days." Jason's work is a result of his endless explorations with clay and his affinity for the Korean Masters.
