An outstanding French 19th century gilt brass card tray and with an inserted, etched and cut crystal bud vase, attributed to Ferdinand Barbedienne.
From the Napoleon Ill period, having finely cast elements of dolphins, scroll work, anthemions, and gadrooning, resting on paw feet.
Ferdinand Barbedienne (6 August 1810 - 21 March 1892) was a French metalworker and manufacturer, who was well known as a bronze and brass founder.
