Mid-Century Italian Murano Glass Vase Fulvio Bianconi Venini Blue Red Green

About the Item

Mid-Century Modern Italian murano glass vase designed by Fulvio Bianconi manufactured by Venini circa 1951 The Pezzato vases are among the most significant objects designed by Fulvio Bianconi for the company "Venini e Co". For this series he used the Tessere-method, an ancient technique used in Classic times before the invention of the glass blowing pipe. The production takes place in several steps. First, the colored glass pieces are arranged on a flat plate, usually in geometric patterns, and then melted, so that the single elements connect with each other. A separately prepared blown form, made of colorless glass, is then rolled over the Tessere-plate to transfer the pattern to the mold. Finally, the object undergoes additional processing with instruments or is blown out. The objects from the Pezzato series, whose name derives from the Italian word for patchwork, are an embodiment of the Tessere-method. “Venini e Co” had already had similar designs in their assortment since the 1920s, but Fulvio Bianconi revived this motif and gave it a timeless design. He started designing the Pezzato series in 1951 and named the models after cities and continents. Our vase with its red, green, sapphire and straw-coloured mosaic elements bears the Italian name of the French capital Parigi. original company label "Venini" at the bottom Bib: Marc Heiremans, “Murano Glass. • Petite Loetz Glass Vase circa 1901 Austrian Jugendstil Blue Green Purple
    By Loetz Glass

Glass vase manufactured by Johann Loetz Witwe PG 1/158 decoration ca. 1901 Austrian Jugendstil This vase is an excellently preserved and exquisite specimen, which illustrates the high art of glassblowing from the manufacturer Loetz. The decoration from the Phenomen Genre family is characterized mainly by the contrasting and matte iridescence, which show new qualities in their color gradient with each incidence of light. The veined and irregularly warped bands with their slightly silvery shimmer are particularly striking. What is exciting is that especially the decoration “PG 1/158” – originally composed of two different decorations – unfolds completely new on each form and thus gives each shape of vase something unique. Through the use of the base in the color green in combination with the different curvatures and indents of this filigree vase...

    By Loetz Glass

Austrian Jugendstil glass vase "Cytisus Lemon Yellow" decoration Johann Loetz Witwe yellow green blue circa 1902 The “Cytisus” decoration is certainly one of the most exquisite decor variations created by the Loetz glassworks. With its shimmering gold particles, it reflects the secessionist ornamentation of turn-of-the-century Vienna. In this way, Max Ritter von Spaun and his collaborators proved that they had their finger on the artistic and aesthetic pulse of the times. Executed in the form of a reduced flower calyx with five indentations in the wall and a five-pass distorted mouth, this vase fits into the style of production around 1902. The fused crumbled dots seem to float on the vase like lightweight gold particles. The complex decoration as well as the technically elaborate glass body are evidence of the great mastery of the glassblowers in Klostermühle and show why the Johann Loetz Witwe glass manufactory was one of the leading producers of precious luxury glass in Vienna 1900. Austrian Jugendstil, floral glass bowl, manufactured by Johann Loetz Witwe, red, green, orange, gold, circa 1902, "Cytisus Maigruen" decoration, bohemian glass The "Cytisus" decoration, also known as "golden rain", is one of the most beautiful decor variations produced by the Johann Loetz Witwe glassworks. As with other decorations, Cytisus was also inspired by the secessionist taste in art in Vienna around 1900. The Beethoven frieze by Gustav Klimt in the Vienna Secession can be cited as an example of this type of artistic design. The bowl captivates with its calyx shape, where form and decoration seem to harmonize. The rare color combination of "Maigruen" (May green...
