PAIR OF ART NOUVEAU INSPIRED ORMULU MOUNTED PORCELAIN URNS SIGNED by COLLOT

About the Item

An antique pair of Sevres style, Art Nouveau inspired, ormulu mounted, hand painted porcelain urns, signed "Collot" within the decorative imagery on the bellies. The urns feature wonderful ormulu, gilt bronze mounts and handles molded into wreaths. They stand on gilt bronze, ormulu bases with four feet, two double hoof form and two architectural form with scroll work and acorn form finials. The hand painted foot contains fabulously detailed hand painted decorative motifs in polychrome and pastel colors. The urn is decorated with pastel hued enameled paint throughout with Neoclassical scenes on the bellies depicting a winged cherub with bow riding a magnificent swan in a naturalistic marsh landscape, with the opposite decorated with a delightful scene of a reclined woman in a pink draped dress gazing at her reflection in a hand mirror, while a winged cherub brings flowers and can be seen just behind her mirror. Both reserves are enveloped in decorative, shaped and gilt finished trim with wonderful a floral and cell pattern motif in polychrome colors. The shoulders mounted with magnificently cast and gilt finished, ormulu wreath form handles and the mouth rim of the urn body is mounted with an ormulu collar which the pedestal form neck, thin, cylindrical form and bulbous mouth rim which is surmounted with a magnificent openwork cast ormulu flame form finial. The urns are composed of three hand painted porcelain sections, connected with magnificent gilt bronze, ormulu mounts.
