About the Item
Lovely pair of vases from the house of Lalique "Le Vase Elisabeth
The Elisabeth vase is made of moulded, pressed, partially satin-finished crystal and was created by Marc Lalique in 1948. This pair is not a reproduction made in the early years, but is indeed period.
Nestled among the foliage, eight sparrows, sculpted in relief, adorn these vases in satin-finish and transparent crystal mounted on a pedestal.

Signature under the base: "Lalique France
In 1945, after the death of his father, Marc Lalique took over the reins of the Lalique company.
He used his technical knowledge to renovate and modernise the factory in Wingen-sur-Moder.
Lalique quickly took its place among the greatest French and foreign crystal manufacturers, and the contrast between transparency and satin-finish that is characteristic of the brand became famous throughout the world.
Marc Lalique's works include the Ange glass, which takes the motif of the smiling angel from Reims cathedral as a nod to the Lalique family's origins, and the bottle for the famous perfume L'Air du Temps, for Nina Ricci.
He died in 1977, leaving the reins of the Lalique crystal works to his daughter Marie-Claude.
