Pair of vases in sound glass fully realized by hand, design Alfredo BARBINI. ORIGIN Murano PERIOD 1970s DESIGNER Alfredo BARBINI (1912 - 2007) He was as a young master glassmaker for the Zecchin & Martinuzzi furnace (operated between 1932 and 1934 by Francesco Zecchin and Napoleone Martinuzzi); he later became art director of the Gino Cenedese glassworks, for which he created numerous glass statues and the so-called Aquariums, i.e., "colorless glass blocks that incorporated colorful, previously formed elements of marine flora and fauna." With Cenedese he participated in the 1948 Venice Biennale. Cenedese's recession led him in 1950 to establish his own glassworks, in the running of which he was assisted by his children Oceania and Flavio. The glassworks specialized in solid glass, submerged glass, and starting in the 1970s murrina and thin-blown glass. Partecipò inoltre alle Biennali di Venezia del 1950, 1954, 1960, 1962 e 1968.
