About the Item
The Rolling Vase #2 is the result of the sculptural work made from our Atelier in order to generate a dialogue between two really different and contrasting materials. The Travertine presents itself in its intense Silver colour and its porosity which is in dialogue with roundish and polished full bronze disk. All the elements together generate a primitive architecture that is made bolder by infinite combinations of flower and plants that can be housed in each carved stone.
Manufacture: The vase is produced and assembled completely in Italy with the finest materials. The travertine block is carved in order to generate a hole on its top to house flowers. The stone then lays softly on a full polished bronze cylinder which works as a counterweight.
Concept: “A bronze cylinder moves by rolling until it crosses an obstacle. On the other side a volume with rounded polygonal shapes of stone intervenes, stabilizing both elements in a state of equilibrium. The Material contrast between the porosity of the travertine and the smoothness of the bronze is joined by a texture of floral green elements that give the sensation of emerging from the same stone.”

dAM atelier
dAM Atelier is an experimental design studio that works at ranging between architecture and furniture design.
Paolo d’Alessandro (b.1993) and Marco Malgarini (b.1993) carried out their architectural studies together at the esteemed Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio in Switzerland which was fundamental to generate their aesthetic research and technical expertise. Their experimentation with sculptural forms in furniture design, firstly incorporated as a component in larger architectural projects, has then resulted in the perfect playground to first test their artistic and architectonic conception.
The resulting pieces showcase the duo’s ability to push the boundaries of gravity and structure, seamlessly blending sculptural forms and bold geometric elements into harmonious compositions.
Despite the interplay of overlapping structures, the minimalist design philosophy effortlessly conceals its complexity maintaining an aesthetic purity. Each piece is a sophisticated fusion of conceptual, technical, and artistic research, resulting in a collection that arouses a moment of wonder in the viewer.
