Terracotta Water Bowl from Mexico, Circa 1950´s
About the Item
Terracotta bowl from the border of Veracruz and Puebla, Mexico, circa 1950´s with the characteristic knobs on each side of the lip. Known as "apaxtle" in the native Nahua language, these bowls served multiple functions. The piece is very much geared towards the Wabi Sabi influence of imperfection. The bowl has been cleaned with a light acid wash and the fractures have been strengthened.
