Turquoise bright pink Murano Sommerso glass vase by Flavio Poli, Italy 1960s. This ashtonishing turquoise and bright pink Murano Glass vase by the Italian Designer Flavio Poli is the absolute eyecatcher for any modern home. In the years between 1950 and 1960, Poli designed a series of sommerso glass pieces which were awarded prestigious prizes (Compasso d‘Oro). Poli died in 1984. A number of his works are in the Murano Glass Museum and MoMA in New York. This unique piece was made with the well-known Sommerso technique which was developed in Italy in the 1950s and is very famous today. This glass that is overlaid with a thick layer of colorless or other colored glass. The first objects were made in the second half of the 1930s by Carlo Scarpa for the Venini & C. manufactory. He used layers of colorless glass that included bubbles or gold leaf and covered them with a layer of glass two centimeters thick. This technique was taken up by many other manufacturers, which achieved very different results with it.

    Art Nouveau silvered pewter floor vase by Hugo Leven, Germany 1900. An ornamental floor vase designed by Hugo Leven featuring a female figure among gingko leaves. The vase is made of silvered pewter. Hugo Leven studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule and then at the Düsseldorf Art Academy. For some time he worked in his father Louis Leven's studio, had numerous contacts with French artists who influenced him greatly, and quickly became known. Engelbert Kayser hired him as the first employee in his studio. From 1895 to 1904 Leven designed numerous models for Kayserzinn; his works had a lasting influence on the pewter foundry of Art Nouveau. He also worked for the Kreuter company in Hanau and other companies that produced metal, silver and stoneware, such as B. Koch & Bergfeld and WMF. From 1904 to 1909 he lived in Bremen.
