Vintage Enamel and Brass Vase in Cloisonné Technique, China, 1980
About the Item
Amazing Chinese vase decorated with a multi-color painting depicting traditional flowers for oriental décor.
Created in China circa 1980s.
A subtle oriental ornament, inherent only in the cloisone technique, in combination with colorful enamel, gives objects a special charm and nobility!
A vivid example of Chinese decorative art and a wonderful gift to the collector! The French term “cloisone” means “placed in a cell” and refers to partitions made of copper wire that are soldered to a metallic background to separate areas of enamel of different colors. The cells are filled with enamel and burned, sometimes several times, as the enamel is compressed.
The product is fired at a relatively low temperature, sufficient to melt the enamel. After firing, the vessel is polished to form a smooth surface aligned with the edges of the partitions. The protruding edges of the partitions are usually covered with gilding.
The first samples of enamel “cloisone” appeared in China in the XV century and since then the technology of manufacturing products has not changed much.

- Paired Chinese Vases Cloisonne, 1960sLocated in Bastogne, BECloisonne is a technique for creating cloisonné enamel on metal objects. The name of the technique appeared in France and comes from the word "cloisonné" (cloisonne), which translates as "separated by a partition." The process of making cloisonne enamels is very laborious. To begin with, a metal base is prepared, which is ground. Then gold and silver wire or thin plates are soldered onto it, and the resulting recesses are filled with special colored vitreous enamel and fired in a kiln. After the product has cooled, it is polished to give shine. Gorgeous black vases with floral print made in the Cloisone technique in the first half of the 20th century. They will not leave anyone indifferent. Handmade antique vases will serve as an excellent gift for a connoisseur of art. Antique Couple...Category
