Vintage Mid-Century Murano Glass Bowl in Sommerso Glass, Flavio Poli Stye
About the Item
Many are the different types of glass created by master makers on the Venetian island of Murano. From air-thin vases to expressive sculptures, also massive objects with deep and vivid hues of colour represent the great skills of glassmakers.
The present bowl, designed in the style of Flavio Poli, yet not directly attributed to him, is a perfect example of how attractive massive Murano glass can be. Made in "Sommerso" glass, in shades of violet and aquamarine, it has a drop shape and a rounded bottom. It was originally intended as an ashtray, or just as a bowl. It can be dated approximately to the mid 1960s, based on the style and colors of the piece.
Unsigned, as most pieces of that era, it shows great craftsmanship, and is preserved in beautiful conditions. No cracks, dents or damages of sort are visible, and just a light patina proves it is actually a 50 years old object.
