Vittorio Ferro Murano Black Red Orange Murrines Italian Art Glass Flower Vase
About the Item
Rare and large Murano hand blown black murrines with bright red orange design Italian art glass flower vase. Attributed to designer Vittorio Ferro, circa 1980-1990s. He became a master and worked for Fratelli Toso from 1952-1981. After leaving FT he worked for his own at several glass factories including Fratelli Pagnin. In his work he used the old murrines designs from the past periods. This particular vase has the murrine style design used by Carlo Scarpa, in a series created in the 1940s for Venini. Unknown if Vittorio used the old stock Venini murrines or recreated them for this series. The murrines create a texture to the vase, since it is not cased over with any clear glass. Vittorio Ferro passed on in 2012, and his pieces have become highly collectible. Would make a great display piece on any credenza or console table. Measures 13" tall x 6" wide.
