Nason & Co. Murano Ice Glass "Collection" Ashtray for Cleto Munari, Italy 1980s

About the Item

Fantastic Murano ice glass ashtray designed by Cleto Munari and produced by Nason in Italy during the 1980s. This gorgeous large ashtray is in amazing conditions and still has its original label in perfect conditions as well. This stunning art glass ashtray is made in an outstanding Murano glass that looks like a piece of carved ice. The way this incredible piece incorporates and reflects the light it's just breathtaking. An incredibly charming object that is in amazing conditions with no chips or defects. The perfect item to complete a living room with clear tones or a minimal studio. Dimensions in cm: Diameter - 20 Height - 5,5 Italian designer Carlo Nason was born into a family of expert glassmakers in 1935 in Murano, Venice. His father, Vincenzo Nason, directed the renowned glass business NasonMoretti and opened a second glass business under the name Vincenzo Nason & C in 1941. From an early age, the younger Nason received training in the art of glassblowing, learning about both the properties of the material and the artisanal techniques used in glass moulding and decoration. The richness of the artistic production of Cleto Munari, arises out of the discovery that every boundary is undefined, and the consequent need to create a “collection about syllables” or rather a “collection of figures” which, because of their incompleteness, luminously suggest the irrepressible quest of man’s intelligence to transfigure the world, according to his own vision. It is this perfect complicity between the whisper of the “heart of things” and the scream of their “shape” that makes Cleto Munari, the poet of form.
