Antique Chinese Export Silver Dragon Mug Circa 1890

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Chinese Export Silver mug with dragons; an addition to our oriental silverware collection. This exceptional antique Chinese silver mug has a tapering cylindrical form. The surface of the mug is embellished with an impressive and finely embossed undulating, iconic Chinese dragon design. This Chinese export mug is fitted with a figural handle, realistically modelled in the form of a dragon. This fine CES mug retains the original gilt interior; this has subtly diminished with age in an aesthetically pleasing manner. The hallmarks struck to the underside of this Chinese silver mug with dragons include: Maker's mark: 欒卿 (Luen Hing) Artisan workshop mark: 通記 (Tong Ji) Condition This antique mug is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The embossed decoration is all very sharp. The hallmarks struck to the underside are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of antique Chinese silverware.     An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Chinese export silver bottle coaster, an addition to our ornamental silverware collection. This exceptional antique Chinese Export Silver (CES) bottle coaster has a cylindrical form to a plain spreading base. The body of this Chinese silver coaster is embellished with fine and impressive embossed and pierced decoration depicting two iconic oriental dragons amidst clouds. The decoration to the body incorporates a sun motif to either side, each accented with a central cartouche, one remains vacant and the other bears the contemporary engraved monogram initials 'CHD.' The upper and lower rims of this coaster are encompassed with plain applied moulded borders accented with bands of tooled decoration. This exceptional coaster has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as sterling silver (925, 925/1000). Condition This antique Chinese silver coaster is a very good gauge of silver, excellent quality and in exceptional presentation condition. The Chinese hallmarks struck to the underside of this coaster are all very clear. Dimensions Diameter of rim 7.9cm/3.1". Diameter of base 8.4cm/3.3". Height 6.5cm/2.6". Weight 5.1 troy ounces/160g.     Chinese Export Porcelain Bacchus Mug After Derby Porcelain, Circa 1785. The Chinese Export porcelain mug is modeled after a Derby porcelain original as the head of Bacchus, the face naturalistically & delicately enameled. The eyebrows, beard and hair picked out with lightly etched brown lines. Around his head is a garland of vine leaves enameled in green, the veins of the leaves well delineated in grey, the bunches of grapes in a rich purple.
