Antique Partner's Oak and Silver Plate Tantalus / Decanters Dated 1885

About the Item

A most unusual and very smart tantalus or decanter stand made from solid English oak and silver plate. It was created as a Partner's tantalus, possibly in the middle of a Partner's desk where the handle can be folded both ways to access the bottles. There are silver plated presentation shields to both back and front, one engraved which we have left for provenance but the other remains vacant for personalization by your silversmith should you wish. The engraving on one shield reads "Wooten Bassett Market, Prize Awarded To Mr. F. Corp For Selling Stock In The Market During 1885 " A true Victorian example. There are three cut crystal circular hobnail-cut decanters tapering to the base, all in lovely condition. A handsome, smart and Impressive piece measuring 15 1/2" x 6 1/4" x 13" tall to top of handle. Item ID 41169.
