Grand Large Pair Irish Sterling Silver Wine Goblets - 1974 - 594 Grams

About the Item

A magnificent pair of vintage solid sterling silver wine goblets, a good size, each standing 5 1/2" tall and a hefty weight, a combined 591 Grams or 19 Troy Ounces. In the Charles II style, the bowls slightly tapering and with flared rim, each on spreading stepped foot and with baluster stem, the interiors lavishly gilded. Each has a crisp full hallmark for Dublin 1974 together with the makers mark for The Royal Irish Silver Company and the underside of each with an import mark for Sheffield 1974. A truly grand and important pair and very usable. Superb condition. 3 1/4" in diameter x 5 1/2" tall. Item: 44303 FREE Worldwide

    An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver wine goblet; an addition to our antique wine and drinks related silverware collection This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver wine goblet has a circular bell shaped form onto a knopped stem and circular spreading foot. The body of this antique silver goblet is embellished with impressive embossed and chased scrolling leaf decoration accented with bead motifs, all on a matte background. The decoration to the body incorporates plain lobed arch designs, composing five vacant cartouches. The upper rim of the drinking vessel is encircled with an applied moulded border. The circular knop to the plain stem is encompassed with applied bead decoration. The swept foot is embellished with further embossed and chased decoration reflecting that of the body and is encircled with an applied band of bead decoration to the rim.     An exceptional, fine and impressive vintage Elizabeth II English sterling silver goblet; an addition to our wine and drinks related silverware collection This exceptional vintage Elizabeth II sterling silver goblet has a circular bell-shaped form onto a pedestal domed, spreading foot. The surface of this vintage silver goblet has a subtly planished finish. The body of the goblet is further ornamented with three impressive cast and applied leaf designs, emanating and conjoining with the plain waisted stem. The plain domed circular foot features an impressive tiered arrangement. This exceptional goblet was crafted by the female silversmith Joan Ruxton and assayed in Sheffield; the vessel is hallmarked with the date letter 'X' (1965) and the underside bears the mark 'A' (1968)*. * It can be determined that this artisanal silversmith will have opted to create an addition plate for the base to provide further weight to the piece, this component was hallmarked at a later date to the initial vessel.
