A truly unique ice bucket, the result of a skilful craftsmanship that reproduces in a truly plausible way an ancient fruit full of meaning for the peoples of the Mediterranean "The pomegranate" Made during the 60s, this vintage ice bucket recalls the materials used and style of the products of the Italian company Macabo for which Alto Tura was Artistic Director but this piece required, compared to those produced by this brand, a greater and considerable use of craft work to be done; just look at the leaves but above all the grains that protrude from the smooth and polished body of the fruit. The pomegranate for the ancient peoples of the Mediterranean has always been a symbol of death and rebirth at the same time, it appears in Greek epic tales, the Egyptians placed this fruit inside the sepulchres, it appears in biblical tales and then depicted in the paintings of the Italian Renaissance. I find this fruit fascinating and the craftsmanship with which this article was made is incredibly precious. It can be a simple bucket that contains ice for your cocktails but also a real art object for your home. This mid century Ice Bucket has been restored by a professional, who has polished the surface and replaced one of the leaves that was damaged with a new one hand carved by him.
