This fabulous Art Deco silver plate cylindrical cocktail or Martini shaker was crafted by silversmith WMF, Germany, in the 1920s. The three-sectioned cocktail shaker has a removable cap and strainer. The lovely geometric shape boasts a typical streamlined Deco design. The bar accessory is marked underside with legal silversmith hallmarks reading NS - WMF. The acronym "NS" stands for Neusilber (Alpacca). This means a base metal product used for silver plating. The company used this mark between 1918 and 1965. The bar accessory is in good condition, with a tiny bump underside at the base. It is not visible when the shaker is in a regular upright position. The inside is in excellent condition. Measurements: 3.13 in diameter (8 cm) x 8.69 in high (22 cm). Note: WMF (formerly known as Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik) is a German tableware manufacturer founded in 1853 in Geislingen an der Steige. WMF was originally called Metallwarenfabrik Straub & Schweizer and was opened as a metal repairing workshop. Through mergers and acquisitions, by 1900, they were the world's largest producer and exporter of household metalware, mainly in the Jugendstil, or Art Nouveau style, designed in the WMF Art Studio under Albert Mayer, sculptor, and designer, who was director from 1884 to 1914. In the 1920s, WMF produced and delivered decorative hand-finished household products worldwide.
