Antique Transferware China Desert or Luncheon Set of Mother and Children Playing

About the Item

This early Victorian partial desert or luncheon set has no maker's markings, but it believed to have been made in England in circa 1850. This set includes 16 pieces in total comprised of two large serving bowls, six small bowls, six cups and a creamer and covered sugar bowl. Each piece has a whimsical transfer depicting presumably a mother seated on a bench, playing with two young children. The pieces are done in a white ground with a deep red or burgundy painted banded rim with a gold luster finish.

    Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor structural damages. The creamer handle shows old repair and some chips to the inner lid of sugar bowl. Some paint loss to red rims of several pieces consistent with age and use.
