Handmade woven ceramic bowl in white ande light blue
About the Item
The white ceramic bowl is a handmade large bowl that was produced in the Münsterland region in the “CortoMagDelft” manufactory.
For producing a bowl like this it takes several steps:
The clay was first cut into strips and then laid together and on top of each other to create an airy, open pattern.
The mesh pattern of the bowl was glazed with a white and turquoise clay glaze and then fired at 1060 degrees in the ceramic kiln, so that the bowl is now washable. However, it is not dishwasher-safe. The fact that the bowl is open in its net shape not only results in a beautiful play of shadows; the shape also means that the bowl is surprisingly light in weight and easy to handle. The ceramic net of the bowl cannot be reproduced, which means that it is unique in its form – therefore it can't be compared to other ceramic bowls.
It can be used as a storage for fruits or vegetables which then also serves as a way to present shiny fruits.

CortoMagDelft
We are CortoMagDelft – a small ceramic manufactory in Münster, the north-west of Germany. As a design duo (we are twin sisters!) we decided to found a company in 2020 in order to be able to re-theme everyday objects. Ceramics is no longer the only material we work with: For us, copper, glass and mosaics are an ideal extension of our beloved but still "down-to-earth" material clay. Each CortoMagDelft-object is unique, but we like to speak of them as "serial uniques", as there is always the possibility of reproducing this unique piece and creating a similar – usually even better! – result. All our Objket are functional and yet always artistic, as we see the synthesis of design and art as particularly important in the current design movement.
